Background

The Action against Terrorism Unit (ATU) assists in the development and implementation of programmes and activities within the OSCE region relating to the prevention and combating of terrorism as mandated by the Bucharest Plan of Action for Combating Terrorism, Ministerial Council and Permanent Council decisions and other relevant OSCE documents, and contributes to the Organization's overall effort to address transnational threats. The implementation of the ATU's programmes and projects requires accountability and management of both core and extra-budgetary resources.


Responsibilities

     - Monitoring and ensuring the implementation of the Bucharest Plan of Action for Combating Terrorism and the Programme of Action
       adopted at the Bishkek Conference
     - Assisting the participating States and the Chairmanship on matters relating to preventing and combating terrorism
     - Contributing to the development of OSCE policies and programmes related to combating transnational threats
     - Assisting in co-ordinating the OSCE activities with all the relevant international organizations.

Requirements

     - Advanced university degree in social or political science, law, public administration or related field; additional professional training or
       certification in leadership, management, strategic studies or related field
     - A minimum of ten years of diverse and progressively responsible professional experience and knowledge of current measures and
       initiatives to prevent and counter terrorism; previous international work experience and/or experience with non-governmental
       organizations (NGOs) required, experience in counter-terrorism related capacity-building activities would be an asset
     - Professional fluency in English, both oral and written; knowledge of other OSCE languages would be an asset
