Background:
UN WOMEN office in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was established in 2008 to provide support to governmental and non-governmental partners to implement existing international and national commitments to women’s rights and gender equality. Through its projects and programs, the office provides technical assistance to duty bearers as well as rights holders, nourishes networking and exchange of good practices and advocates for women’s rights and gender equality in all areas of life.

Required Skills and Experience:
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Masters Degree in gender studies, international development, education or other field related to gender equality.
• Oral and written fluency in English, knowledge of the local language is an asset
• At least six years of experience working with international organisations, government agencies or NGOs in the fields of:
- Gender equality and/ or addressing violence against women and girls.
- Various aspects of advocacy work and communications as well as social mobilisation towards ending violence against women and girls
- Experience working with UN agencies is an asset
• Research experience with proven adaptive and creative research skills
• Affinity with international development and/or the Western Balkan region
Duration of Initial Contract: 01 September 2012 – 31 August 2013
Expected Duration of Assignment: 12 months
