Objectives

UN Women invites expert organizations working in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia with experience in mediation, mediation training and conflict resolution, human rights / women’s rights, inter-ethnic dialogue, and peace and security, to submit proposals aiming at strengthening the capacities of official and unofficial (community facilitator) mediators to incorporate gender perspectives in their mediation processes.

Project proposals should aim at:

 1. developing training curricula on gender and mediation in cases of mediation foreseen by the Law on Mediation and in informal/community
     mediation;
 2. the selection of a pool of capable/available mediators, assessing their capacities (pre and post training), and delivering capacity
     development trainings that include mediation simulations.

The Contractor is expected to deliver:


 - Development of specific training curricula on linkages between gender and mediation which will include two trainings and one simulation
   exercise, as well as an assessment of the capacity of mediators and community facilitators both pre- and post-training; 
 - Implementing one basic and one advanced training on gender and mediation for official mediators and community facilitators;
 - Implement one simulation exercise as a third level of the training cycle; and
 - The development of a post-training implementation report, including recommendations as to good practice/lessons learned for future work
   with mediators and community facilitators.

Qualifications Required

Required Skills

   - Excellent capacity to deliver trainings in the area of mediation and peaceful conflict resolution (including past experience) and the ability
     to convey complex recommendations for future steps;
   - Excellent capacity in areas related to mediation and gender, peace, security, peaceful conflict resolution, gender equality and women’s
     empowerment;
   - Established collaboration with relevant governmental and non-governmental institutions in the country working on alternative dispute
     resolution, inter-ethnic relations, peace, security and mediation; and
   - The ability to interact, establish and maintain effective working relations with partners - governmental and other civil society
     organisations.

The contractor shall produce:

   1. Copies of the Registration Form and the Statute of the NGO/Company
   2. References of at least two relevant projects, implemented in the past six years
   3. CVs of the team leader, proposed key personnel, including individual consultants/experts
