Background:

UNDP’s country programme is set to support the country’s long-term development agenda and its aspirations for the EU membership. Based on the joint UN assessment of the country’s development priorities, UNDP’s comparative advantage, the local knowledge and its global network of expertise, the overall programme focuses on three thematic areas i.e. social inclusion, good governance and environmental protection.
 
Objective:
 
Under direct supervision of the Social Inclusion Programme Officer and overall guidance of the Head of Social Inclusion Unit, the Project Specialist will be responsible to effectively manage and coordinate project activities of the project “Preventing the domestic violence through competent national institutions and accountable and transparent judicial system”. He/she will also provide expertise and implementation support on other project initiatives that address the challenges of vulnerable people. The Project Specialist will provide expertise, facilitate and support the work of short term local and international experts and advisors in this respective area.

Required Skills and Experience:

Education:

  • University Degree in law, social sciences and/or political affairs, or other relevant field.
  • Master degree is a strong asset.

Professional experience:

  • At least 4 years (2 year for candidates with Master Degree) of relevant professional and project management experience preferably on
    projects dealing with the rule of law;
  • Previous experience in delivering technical experience to gender related projects preferably with focus on protection of women against
    violence would be an asset ;
  • Evident experience in liaising and co-operating with important institutions such as the national assembly, ministries, associations of
    judges and public prosecutors, scientific institutions, NGOs and private sector;
  • Excellent computer literacy (MS Office; Windows XP, Internet); excellent communications, report writing and analytical skills.  
 
Language Requirements:

Language proficiency in both written and oral English and Macedonian.  Knowledge of Albanian language and/or languages of other communities shall be considered an asset.
