Objective:
Prepare international teams of participants, mainly post graduated students, more than 22 years old, to work with the OSCE, UN, EU and other International Organizations in International Missions.
The main objectives of this Expert Course are:
• To offer essential information on international organizations, international conflict and actors in the field.
• To transmit a deeper understanding of the practical issues that arise when dealing with conflict prevention, crisis management and
post-conflict rehabilitation.
• To obtain a sufficient level of practical knowledge and skills in order to be immediately incorporated, if possible, in the planning, execution or
monitoring cells of the different international missions of the OSCE, EU, UN and those of other institutions.
General Contents of the Course:
Human Rights and Fundamental Liberties, Democratization and Rule of Law, Conflict Prevention and Resolution, Analysis of International Conflicts, Crisis Management and Fieldwork Techniques.
Registration Fees:
First Pay: €350 which must be paid from the moment the student confirms his/her availability. This amount will be subtracted from the total tuition.
Scholarships:
Helsinki España grants a limited amount of scholarships covering between 30% and 90% of the course tuition. They have to be requested by the interested candidate whom, along with the relevant documentation, must attach a copy of a recent payslip or income-tax-return.
Tuition: € 4.850 which covers:
• Tutorship.
• Reading material.
• Diploma.
• Visits to the International Demining Centre of Hoyo de Manzanares (mine-awareness practice).
• Four-wheel driving practice.
• First Aid Diploma.
Possible Incorporation to International Missions:
1. Students of all nationalities may access the missions of the UN, EU and those of other international organizations and NGOs as volunteers
or as contracted personnel.
2. Students who are between 21 and 30 years of age and are nationals of OSCE member states may perform an internship of up to 6 months
both in the OSCE country missions and Secretariat. Students who are nationals of OSCE member states may access seconded positions
(proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their country) and contracted positions both in the OSCE country missions and Secretariat.
Dates:
From 05 November to 30 November, 2012 (Intensive Course of 220 hours). Please note that all students should arrive in Madrid on Saturday November 3.
Location:
The course will be held in Madrid, at Instituto Universitario General Gutiérrez Mellado. Helsinki España will NOT be responsible of your lodging and other expenses while in Madrid.
Student Requirements: University degree and high level of English
Number of students per course: Maximum of 25.
