Background:
A Call for Independent Experts for Safer Internet Programme 2009-2013 is now open, the call text is available in all the official languages of the European Union.
In order to get assistance for tasks where specific expertise might be required relating to the Safer Internet Programme, the Commission may open calls for experts. The tasks of the experts are usually related to the evaluation of proposals submitted in response to calls for proposals, and the review of individual Safer Internet projects, as well as legacy projects funded under the Safer Internet plus programme. The detailed arrangements for carrying out the specific expert tasks will be set out in an agreement to be signed by the Commission, on behalf of the Community, and each expert. Experts are entitled to a payment in the form of a lump sum per day of work and reimbursement of travel and subsistence expenses in accordance with the scales valid at the time of signature of the agreement with the Commission.
Who can apply?
The calls are usually open to nationals of a Member State of the European Union, the EEA states of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, or a country which has concluded a bilateral agreement to this effect. Applications from nationals of other states are accepted but will only be used according to specific needs. However, each call for experts is launched together with a specific description of objectives and possible participants.
