Background:
Project: Emergency Coordination Support to Municipality of Strumica
The Country has been badly affected by the wildfires in July and August 2012 induced by the extremely dry ground conditions as a result of the severe heat wave affecting the entire Southeastern European region. At its peak on 24th of July 2012, there were several wildfires in the country. Presently, the majority of the fires have been put under control. However with a predicted reoccurrence of heat waves later this summer, there is an attendant risk of new forest fires and wildfires.
Objectives:
The strategic objective of the Needs Assessment Study is to organize, collect and present existing information on humanitarian needs in a coherent and consolidated manner. The Study contributes to the developing of the Early Recovery Plan for the Municipality of Strumica.

Required Skills and Experience:
Academic Qualifications: University degree in the relevant subject (humanitarian, social sciences, development etc.). Higher an asset.
Professional Experience: minimum 7 years of professional experience; minimum 3 years of professional experience in the relevant subject (needs assessments, disaster risk reduction, development, municipal plans and programmes etc.); minimum two years’ experience and/or two contracts in development of needs assessment, municipal plans and programmes and/or disaster risk management related documents;
Language Requirements: English and Macedonian
Expected Duration of Assignment : estimated 23 working days by the end of November
