Background
UNDP’s Local Development Programme within the Rural and Regional Development Cluster is designed to help advance human development in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) by tackling the most pressing local development challenges for the country. It focuses on three priorities for BiH, in line with objectives set by BiH’s national development strategy, UNDAF and the needs identified by UNDP’s Regional Disparity Survey. In order to contribute to improvement of governance, the programme will focus on advancing local-government know-how so as to better position local authorities to tackle and overcome development challenges, whilst improving citizens services.
Responsibilities
- Support, coordination and oversight of the participatory strategic planning processes of partner local governments within the
region/cluster
- Support, coordination and oversight of the local development management and strategy implementation assistance provided to partner
local governments within the region/cluster
- Facilitation and support to inter-municipal cooperation and effective linkages between local governments and strategies and policies of
higher government levels
- Facilitation and support to knowledge sharing, exchange of experiences and practices among partner local governments and other
stakeholders within the region and gender equality mainstreaming
Requirements
- University degree in public administration, economics, law, political sciences, social sciences or related field (postgraduate degree is an
asset)
- At least 5 years of relevant experience working on or directly involved in local strategic planning and local/regional development
processes at the municipal level in BiH; particular knowledge and previous experiences in working with local governments and socio
economic partners within the relevant region/cluster will be considered an asset
- Fluency in the languages of peoples in BiH
- Fluency in English.
