Background:
The project is supporting the municipality of Surdulica to pursue its strategic vision of ecotourism development through employment generation and preservation of environmental and cultural heritage in the protected area of Vlasina Lake.
The project will deliver the following outputs:
• Branding and promotion of the Vlasina Lake as a tourist destination;
• Capacity development and awareness raising of local stakeholders on environment protection principles and standards;
• Construction of a part of tourist infrastructure at the Vlasina Lake;
• Support to the local self-government and the public utility company of Surdulica to protect the environment of the Vlasina Lake.
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for implementation of all project activities in Vlasina Lake area and achievement of project results.
The project is funded by the Coca-Cola System and UNDP.
Purpose:
The purpose of the position is to coordinate the implementation and administration of the Project “Vlasina Lake Ecotourism Promotion and Environment Protection” under the overall guidance of the Programme Officer.
Objective:
The objective of this position is to support results oriented, effective, efficient and accountable implementation of the project activities and achievement of project results.

Required Skills and Experience:
Education:
• Bachelors or equivalent in a relevant field (preferably related to general project management,
environment protection or spatial/landscape planning & design);
Work Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in a management position, preferably in international/multilateral development context
• Experience in cooperating with the local self-governments
• Experience in managing teams and complex processes that included extensive communication, coordination and facilitation requirements
• Experience in partnership building at international, national, regional and local level;
• The following specific experiences will be considered as an asset: experience working in the UN system or other international organizations;
experience in Vlasina/Surdulica area.
Knowledge:
• Experience in capacity development and promotional activities (public campaigns, competitions, etc);
• Excellent communications and negotiations skills are a must;
• Excellent IT skills, use of office software packages and handling web-based management systems;
Personal qualifications:
• Ability to organize and motivate team, deliver when working under pressure and within changing circumstances;
• Excellent writing/reporting and presentation skills
• Excellent interpersonal, networking and team building skills;
Language:
• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken Serbian and English.
Eligible criteria:
As this position is under Service Contract modality, only applications of applicants with Serbian nationality or valid working permit in Serbia will be considered for the vacancy.
Duration of Initial Contract: one year with possibility of extension
