The EBRD is the largest investor in private equity funds in the EBRD countries of operations with capital commitments of over EUR 3 billion.  EBRD’s support of private equity fund managers helps improve the supply of equity capital for businesses in its countries of operation and accelerates the development and institutionalization of the private equity industry in the region.


Requirements:

   - Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience for Analyst level and 4 years for Associate Banker level,
     from a leading management consulting firm, investment bank, private equity firm or asset
     management firm and/or other relevant private sector financial institutions, including investment
     companies.
   - A strong interest in the economies of the EBRD region, including SEMED.
   - Relevant skills and experience in investing in private equity funds or directly in companies required of
     an investment analyst.
   - Advanced analytical as well as financial skills with good knowledge of IFRS accounting and fair value.
   - Knowledge and experience in reviewing legal documentation is an advantage.
   - Sound level of investment analysis skills with a good understanding of credit issues and some
     experience in structuring and executing transactions.
   - Degree from a leading university, preferably an MBA or other relevant post graduate degree. A
     recognized professional designation such as CFA is an advantage.
   - Computer literate with excellent Excel skills and ability to produce presentations by data manipulation,
     financial projections and financial models is a pre-requisite.
   - Prior working experience in the SEMED region and /or knowledge of the business environment
     including public, social, and private sectors in these geographical locations is an advantage.
   - Excellent written and oral communications skills in English. Fluency in Arabic is essential; fluency in
     French is an advantage.


Responsibilities:

   - Be a team member in investment projects in private equity funds in SEMED and other EBRD countries
     of operation.
   - Monitor existing investment projects and proactively engage him/herself in the oversight of these
     equity funds. Such monitoring includes, but is not limited to: i) attending internal and external
     meetings relevant to the effective monitoring of the portfolio of funds, including Supervisory Board
     meetings and Investors’ meetings of the private equity funds in which EBRD is an investor; ii) reviewing
     the performance of portfolio companies of private equity funds and assessing their fair market value;
     iii) reviewing capital disbursement requests and capital distributions in compliance with the fund
     documentation; and iv)acting as the intermediary between various internal departments and the client
     to respond to the operational needs of the funds under his/her supervision .
   - Support more senior bankers in preparing internal documentation related for internal approvals of
     new projects or any amendments to existing projects.
   - Monitor SEMED and specific country economic, social and political activities relevant to private equity
     investing.
  - Assist in maintaining and constructing portfolio database, market and sector statistics, coordinating
     with co-investors, preparing client meetings and in addressing other business needs.
   - Assist more senior bankers in reviewing new fund investment proposals where required.
   - Assist in developing ad-hoc databases to support the equity funds team.
   - Assist in preparing power point presentations for internal and external audiences.
   - Prepare high level quantitative analyses of the portfolio and prospective projects.
   - Project related work will encompass a wide range of administrative and operational back-up tasks for
     the portfolio and the prospective projects.
