Contract description

The project is designed to increase the compliance level of the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) with the EU'acquis' in the following priority areas:
   - further development of business statistics with sub-projects on energy statistics, short-term statistics, modernisation of business statistics
surveys (MEETS) and information society statistics (ISSs)
   - upgrading of the existing data collection system.
These statistical domains are considered priorities both by the Central Bureau of Statistics of Croatia and by Eurostat.
The project will facilitate further alignment with the 'acquis communautaire' in the areas of business statistics, such as energy statistics in order to extend the scope of energy efficiency data (new survey on energy final consumption in the transport sector), additional developments in short-term statistics — STSs (new surveys concerning missing short-term indicators), technological modernisation of business statistical surveys with the objective of increasing efficiency and reducing the administrative burden on enterprises, as well as a need to apply changes in the 'acquis communautaire' introduced in the ISSs.
Regarding the upgrading of the existing data collection system, due to the growing demand on increased cost-effectiveness of data collection activities, the aim of the project is to upgrade the existing computer-assisted interviewing (CAI) — computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) and computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI).
