Background
Today, DTU is ranked as one of the foremost technical universities in Europe, continues to set new records in the number of publications, and persistently increase and develop our partnerships with industry, and assignments accomplished by DTU’s public sector consultancy. A number of PhD scholarships are available at the Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology, DTU Nanotech, starting in the winter/spring of 2012. The subject of the PhD project must be within one of the main research areas of the department: Cleanroom based micro- and nanofabrication, Nanomaterials, Polymer micro- and nanoengineering, Synthesis and self assembly of nanostructures etc. The Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology – DTU Nanotech – is a highly esteemed research institution within the field of micro- and nanotechnology. Applied science, innovation strategies and state-of-the-art technology form our core identity as a scientific institution. The PhD programme is a three year programme designed to educate researchers at an international level and interplaying with the international research world. The PhD programme consists of a learning process where the PhD student learns to perform research under guidance. The language of instruction is English or Danish. The Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology offers an attractive international working environment to scientists and students. The staff has diverse scientific backgrounds. More than a third of our staff comes from countries other than Denmark, and about one third of our scientific staff is women.The scholarships are subject to academic approval and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the PhD programmes at DTU.
Eligibility
- National as well as international candidates may apply for the programme. They are seeking highly qualified candidates with good
grades and a focused interest in research.
- Candidates should have (or soon obtain) a master’s degree in engineering or a similar degree with an equivalent academic level.
Candidates may apply prior to obtaining their master’s degree, but cannot begin the PhD education before having received the grade.
- To apply for these scholarships candidates must obtain an agreement with a supervisor at DTU Nanotech concerning a specific project.
To be considered for a scholarship, candidates must enclose endorsement from a supervisor and a project description.
Scholarships
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD students at DTU. The period of employment is 3 years
