SHARR NATIONAL PARK MANAGEMENT PLANNING COORDINATOR

Background
Under the Conservation of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Use Management Project in Dragash, UNDP is implementing a 3 year project (2010 to 2013) aiming at establishment of institutional framework to enable sustainable development.
Under Output 1 “Plans and policies in place for the adequate conservation  of biodiversity and sustainable land use management”- Activity results 1.2 & 6.1- the Project aims at promoting the establishment of effective management of the Sharr National Park, thus it is supporting the Kosovo Sharr National Park directorate to complete a Management Plan, based on  the parallel production of an Atlas (SDA – Sustainable Development Atlas) oriented at the information needs of policy-makers, planners and decision makers involved. The three methodological steps of the Atlas production are –compilation of basic information, spatial resources base assessment and spatial development guidance. This information will be used together with other data in producing Management Plan for Sharr National Park and other relevant documents. Law on National Park Sharr has been adopted by Kosovo Assembly on 13.12.2012, making the tasks under the Tors and project Output very relevant to Sharr National Park Directorate.

Duties and Responsibilities
Objectives of Assignment
The general purpose of the assignment is to support the development of Management Plan for Sharr Mountain National Park under the UNDP Dragash project through the coordination with stakeholders, collection and analysis of data needed for Management Plan.
The works specified under these TOR refer to the analytical part of the production of the Sharr Mountain National Park Management plan and dissemination activities in promoting conservational approach for future development of Sharr Mountain National Park.
 
Key tasks
 - Mobilisation and coordination of a team to conduct the planning process for Management Plan
- Collation of all the required information for planning
- Organisation of planning events, workshops, activities and consultations
- Documentation of all activities
- Utilisation of information gathered during the preparatory process for production of Management Plan for Sharr/Šar Mountain National Park.
- Drafting  Management Plan
- Sharing draft Management Plan with main stakeholders and organization of participatory review of the document.
- Planning the endorsement, publication and dissemination of the final version of the management plan
- Organize dissemination of the idea of National Park in community
- Participation in the integrated awareness campaign amongst elementary school pupils of Dragash/š Municipality regarding water, wastewater, pollution and biodiversity.
 
Required Skills and Experience
- Master’s degree in relevant fields related to environment, forestry and/or nature protection
- At least 5 years working experience in the fields related to the nature protection and management of protected areas.
- Knowledge and previous experience of the area of Sharr/Šar Mountain National Park and Dragash/š Municipality
- Strong analytical and drafting skills
- Proficient in Albanian and Serbian languages.
- Proficiency in English language will be an asset.
- Good oral and written communication skills;
- Good analytical, solution defining and creative skills.
