Background

The European Instrument for Democracy and Human rights (EIDHR) is the successor programme to the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights created by the European Parliament in 1994.
The legal basis for the programme under the Financial Perspective 2007-2013 was adopted by the European Parliament and the Council in December 2006. Regulation (EC) N°1889/20061, which entered into force on 1 January 2007, establishes a self-standing financing instrument for the promotion of democracy and human rights worldwide entitled European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) This instrument reflects the high political profile and specific Treaty mandates relating to the development and consolidation of democracy and the rule of law, and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.


Size of grants

Any grant requested under this Call for Proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:

LOT 1
· minimum amount: € 10.000
· maximum amount: € 50.000

LOT 2
· minimum amount: € 50.000
· maximum amount: € 100.000


Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must:
- be legal persons
- be non-profit-making
- be civil society organizations
- in case the applicant is CSO not established in Serbia, it must act with at least one co-applicant that is established in Serbia
