Contract description

The Rrogozhina bypass is a segment about 4,3 km long that is part of the main west to east corridor to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The main aim of construction of Rrogozhina bypass is to divert long-distance traffic from the town of Rrogozhina. The main characteristics of the road are as follows: single carriage way; lane width: 3,75 m; shoulders width: 1,5 m x 2; number of lanes: 2; total paved width: 10,50 m. The road pavement structure is formed by the following layers: wearing course 4 cm, binder course 6 cm, asphalt concrete base course 10 cm, crushed aggregate base course 20 cm. There are in total 29 pipes and box culverts and 2 main structures along the bypass. Bridge over a stream at km 3+100 (span 21 m) and a railway underpass at km 1+800 (span 15 m). The structure of the railway bridge has been defined according to the constraint to keep the railway traffic uninterrupted during the works.
Earth moving quantities are: 2 300 m3 cut, 176 000 m3 fill, 64 000 m3 removal top soil, 61 500 m3 foundation layers. Precast concrete kerbs, on both sides of the carriage way, were provided to retain and convey the rainwater to the drainage channels through precast concrete gutters (slope drains). Works provisional acceptance is foreseen to take place within 18 months from starting.
