Background
UNDP’s Kosovo Small Arms Control Initiative (KOSSAC) supports Kosovo institutions to control the widespread possession and circulation of small arms and light weapons (SALW) in accordance with UN, OSCE and EU standards.
Designed initially to reduce armed violence in Kosovo and increase community safety, KOSSAC has, throughout the years, evolved into a comprehensive armed-violence prevention project with a strong focus on security sector reform and capacity development.
In the past 5 years, KOSSAC has established itself as a credible partner and primary source for technical advice and assistance to national and local institutions in a variety of fields.
Responsibilities
- Explore and engage with online/social media communities related to the project and provide relevant advise by monitoring relevant
conversations
- Manage and assist in the development of a new KOSSAC website
- Re-establish the use of the Armed Violence Monitoring Database
- Assist in the development of the online early warning system.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) at the time of application and during the
internship (if a candidate is graduating before the internship period begins, they are no longer eligible)
- Have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree, if
pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages
- not have graduated prior to the beginning of the internship
- Fluency in written and spoken English, Albanian and Serbian.
