Description

The purpose of the contract is to support the water management authorities in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia in preparation of the Drina River Basin Management Plan (RBMP) and the Investment Prioritization Framework. These will comply with EU water policy in general and EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) and Floods Directive in particular. The overall objective of the Study is to support more effective water resources management in the Drina River basin with a special focus on flood and drought mitigation, and hydropower and environmental management, within the framework of integrated water resource management. Outcomes will be (i) enhanced dialogue and coordination in the Drina River basin across the sectors and countries; (ii) more effective decision making for the management; and (iii) a decision making tool for the management and development priorities related to the water resource in the Drina River basin. 



Requirements

MWH is currently looking for a Senior Hydrologist for a long term project with the following requirements:

 

Qualifications and skills:

- At least Master Degree in hydrology, engineering or other related educational background.

- Fluent in English

- General professional experience

- At least 10 years of relevant experience in hydrology and water resources management.

Specific professional experience:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and implementing hydrogeological investigations, analyzing data, and developing conceptual models.

- Proven experience in risk assessment of hydrological events, hydrological processes modeling monitoring and warning systems, hydrological forecasting.

- Specific experience in water resource management in accordance with EU relevant directives (Water Framework Directive and Floods Directive, in particular)

- At least 2 years' experience as hydrologist in transboundary water management projects

- Good Knowledge of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach

- Experience in the Western Balkans is considered an advantage
