EUROPEAID/135-174/L/ACT/XK - EU SUPPORT TO REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Background                                                                     Maximum amount: 500.000 EUR

EU Regional Economic Development (EURED) is emerging in Kosovo as an important model for creating sustainable development in regions while, at the same time, helping to mitigate the social costs of transition, particularly by addressing unemployment. An EU funded survey in 2007 (Regional investment potential) as well as initiatives in disadvantaged areas show that support is needed to both boost overall employment in Kosovo and enhance investments throughout. The capacities for designing and developing concepts for regional initiatives to enhance investments and employment are limited in Kosovo.

Objective

The objectives of this Call for Proposals are:
   - Contribute to the consolidation of the five economic regions and the creation of a regional development framework which is in line with
     EU best practice
   - Support economic regeneration and creation of favourable economic development conditions as on regional as well as on Kosovo level.

The specific objectives of this Call for Proposals are:
   - Creating favourable conditions for business development
   - Small-scale business related infrastructure

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must:
   - be legal persons
   - be non-profit-making
   - be specific types of organisations such as: non-governmental organisations, public sector operators, local authorities, international (inter
     governmental) organisations

Size of grants

   - Minimum amount: 200 000 EUR
   - Maximum amount: 500 000 EUR
