Responsibilities
- Monitors the regional and municipal police stations and provides advice on measures towards ensuring compliance with applicable
international and European human rights standards
- Identifies and reports on specific human right cases, trends and issues
- Raises awareness of the police within the regional police headquarters and relevant municipal police stations for the respect of human
rights and sustainable human rights capacity and compliance
- Identifies human rights related capacity building needs and advises the regional and municipal police stations on actions, strategies and
policies that address those needs
- Provides specific recommendations, when appropriate, to the relevant police institutions
- Drafts thematic and performance reports
Requirements
- University education in political sciences, international relations, public policy, law, international human rights law or other human rights
related fields
- Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience
- Knowledge of the internal functioning of law enforcement agencies (police)
- Knowledge of human rights aspects of police work (policy and procedure)
- Professional fluency in the English language
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and judgement to local conditions and communities
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and within limited time frames
