UNDP, UNHCR, UNICEF and IOM are implementing a new programme called „Applying the Human Security Concept to Stabilize Communities in Canton 10“, which seeks to apply the Human Security Concept to stabilize communities in Canton 10, with a particular focus on former refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) who have returned to Canton 10 and face particular challenges and hardships at reintegration. Although the programme is designed to address the needs of returnee populations in Canton 10, which are found to be one of the most at risk in terms of their economic, social, health and political security and wellbeing, it also seeks to address the needs of the receiving population by partnering with local municipal and cantonal governments and administrations in order to ensure local buy-in and support, as well as secure the long term sustainability of the programme.
Responsibilities
- Liaise and coordinate with key partners involved in the project
- Assist in preparation of meetings, events, training workshops, and field trips
- Support in planning, implementation and monitoring of programme activities, based on the approved project documents
- Support programme reporting requirements through data collection and analysis, and drafting of various programme-related reports
- Provide general office support and perform administrative tasks, as requested by the supervisor
- Assist UNCT (in particular UNHCR) in monitoring the beneficiaries selected for the project
- Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and
take active part in UNV activities
- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country
- Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities
Requirements
- At least 22 years of age (at commencement of duties)
- Secondary school education or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree is a distinct advantage
- At least 2 years of experience in working with civil society organizations
- Relevant experience in the field would be considered as advantage
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages and in handling of web-based management system
- Demonstrate experience working in complex environments, preferable in providing support to municipal administration and CSO sector
- Familiarity with UNDP system, rules and procedures is an advantage
- Knowledge and experience in volunteering, and willingness to learn about volunteering
- Fluency in BiH languages (written and spoken). Fluency in English (written and spoken) would be an asset
