Description


Kosovo has a large youth population with high levels of unemployment and low levels of participation in Decision-making processes. People under the age of 25 constitute nearly one half of Kosovo’s population. Yet young people are largely unprepared and unable to realize their rights and responsibility, due both to a lack of opportunity to participate in the civic, political, and professional spheres, and the lack of capacity to assume the responsibilities inherent in participation.UNICEF’s Innovations Lab Kosovo is helping UNICEF and partners rethink development. A unit of UNICEF Kosovo, the Lab is home to a multidisciplinary team working to unlock new uses of information and technology, effect substantive change through communication, and prepare and empower young people to be agents of change and partners in ourpursuit of a Kosovo fit for children and youth. The Lab’s flagship programmes—By Youth For Youth and the Youth Advocacy Platform—are the result of applying innovative thinking and methods to one of Kosovo’s most pressing challenges and most promising opportunities: its youth population.

Responsibilities

   - The Innovations Officer will work with UNICEF partners on innovative projects based on mobile and social technologies
   - She/he will work with youth to develop and implement innovative projects that meet their needs
   - develop partnerships with a wide range of stakeholder including academia, technologists, public and private sectors
   - connect with global T4D (Technology forDevelopment) efforts to ensure that the Lab’s efforts resonate with global conversations


Requirements

   - Advanced university degree, ideally related to Information management systems for development programmes and technology
   - Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in project management
   - Strategic thinking on how to use technology for development and youth participation and empowerment
   - Demonstrated ability to support user-centered technology design and implementation
   - Project management (based on agile methodology), including budget monitoring
   - Ability to work with a diverse set of partners to create problem specifications, system requirements, and then lead implementation of
     software and technology innovations
     on a national scale
   - Excellent communication and documentation skills
   - Ability to work effectively with young people and in a multilingual environment
