Background
This position is open for secondment only and participating States are kindly reminded that all costs in relation to assignment at the Secretariat must be borne by their authorities. Candidates should, prior to applying, verify with their respective nominating authority to which extent financial remuneration and/or benefit packages will be offered. Seconded staff members in the OSCE Secretariat and Institutions are not entitled to a Board and Lodging Allowance payable by the Organization.
Requirements
- University degree in economics, international relations, political or environmental science, with a focus on project management on environment and security issues
- A minimum of four years of professional experience, preferably at the international level
- Professional experience in project development would be an asset
- Understanding of and experience in security-related environmental issues
- Professional fluency in English with excellent drafting and communication skills; knowledge of other OSCE working languages would be an asset
- Ability to operate windows applications including word processing and e-mail
- Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities
- Proven interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective and constructive working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Environmental Affairs Advisor and the colleagues from the Environmental Co-operation Unit in drafting initial OCEEA project proposals in the field of environmental good governance, including proposals under the Environment and Security (ENVSEC) Initiative, and reviewing project proposals submitted by environmental officers/mission members in the field, including preparation of project budgets;
- Assists in implementation, monitoring and reporting of OCEEA projects in the area of environmental good governance;
- Assists in supporting the efforts of the OSCE field operations in the development, management, monitoring and reporting on project activities particularly in the field of environmental good governance;
- Assists in maintaining contact at a comparable level with officials of international organizations, sub-regional initiatives, NGOs and business groupings to identify activities for joint implementation in the field of environmental good governance;
- Assists the office in organising various regional events, meetings, workshops and seminars and other activities related to the project work, by providing support for developing agenda items, work programmes as well as disseminating relevant information related to these events and reporting;
- Assists in resource mobilization efforts for OCEEA environmental project activities and prepares responses to delegations and management requests for project information, including status of funding, implementation; liaises with other departments in the OSCE Secretariat as relevant;
- Performs other tasks as requested.
