Background
EveryChild is an international development charity working to stop children growing up vulnerable and alone. Their ambition is to create a global movement to stop children growing up without parental care. They are expanding from a UK-based charity working in 15 countries with vulnerable children and their families by forming a global network of hands-on, national organisations.
Requirements
- The candidate should have post graduate degree or equivalent, ideally post-doctoral, with a strong understanding of different social research concepts and approaches, Child rights and protection and range of participatory tools/theoretical justifications for participatory research.
- Working knowledge of Spanish, Russian, Arabic, French or Portuguese.
- He/she should have experience of child-led research and/or innovative tools such as digital story telling or participatory video.
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural setting, ideally in more than one language, demonstrating understanding of working internationally.
- Carrying out participatory research with children, particularly with vulnerable children or those in difficult circumstances and ability to convey complex information, clearly and concisely to a wide range of audiences, including busy civil society staff.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead and deliver research projects in crucial areas related to our work, specifically, child reintegration, social protection/ education and children’s care, foster care and the importance of the family.
- Supporting members to build their capacity to carry out both qualitative and participatory research and to present findings in international forums. In addition, this post will play a key role in identifying potential research partners, as well as carrying out in-depth desk based research.
