Description
The Directorate General “Human Rights and Rule of Law” (DGI) is currently looking for an official - Legal Officer who will bring his/her expertise to the Secretariat of the Enlarged Agreement on the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) whose mission is to improve the capacity of its 49 member States to fight corruption by monitoring their compliance with Council of Europe anti-corruption standards through mutual evaluation and peer pressure. To contribute to the planning and implementation of evaluation and compliance procedures, in accordance with GRECO’s Statute and Rules of Procedure as well as Council of Europe values.
Responsibilities
- analyses the replies to GRECO evaluation questionnaires and examines relevant international legal instruments and national legislations
- provides support to evaluation teams
- assists the GRECO Secretariat in conducting evaluation visits, draws up draft evaluation reports and assists GRECO during report adoption procedures
- contributes to GRECO’s compliance procedure, in particular drawing up and updating of compliance reports and assists rapporteurs and GRECO during
the adoption procedure of compliance reports, addenda and other follow-up thereto
- prepares information documents, summaries and studies, in particular for the attention of evaluation teams, GRECO and the Executive Secretary
- contributes to the visibility of the GRECO process internally and externally and ensures appropriate information to those concerned
- contributes actively to the performance of other specific tasks of the Secretariat
Requirements
- university degree in law
- professional experience in the legal field
- thorough knowledge of the domestic legal system of the country of origin
- ability to work on other European legal systems
- good knowledge of criminal and public international law
