Background

Since 2005, UN Women (formerly UNIFEM) has been supporting strengthening democratic governance, and promoting and protecting women’s human rights in Kosovo and the Western Balkans through implementation of UNSCR 1325. Building on the previous projects ‘Women Building Peace and Human Security in the Western Balkans’ and Advancing Implementation of UN SCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security in the Western Balkans’ UN Women will continue its support to RWL SEE under the new project Advancing the Leadership of Women in Promoting the Implementation of the Pristina-Belgrade Agreement: Women’s Leadership in Reconciliation, Peace and Security (Western Balkans), commenced in early September 2013 with a primary  focus to promote better understanding between women from across the region of Southeastern Europe, with an emphasis on Kosovo and Serbia. 


Responsibilities

   - Serve as Coordinator of the Regional Women’s Lobby for Southeastern Europe (RWLSEE).
   - Supports the National Program officer to draft the Project of RWL SEE.  
   - Supports UN Women office in Kosovo for implementation and monitoring of the planned activities for 2014
   - Support RWL SEE in gathering information useful in their advocacy
   - Attend RWL SEE meetings and conferences and provide support to UN Women/RWL SEE on organization of these events;
   - Attend conferences and meetings relevant to RWL’s work (women’s peace and security and women’s human rights) on behalf of RWL SEE, when delegated by the RWL SEE member;
   - Maintain and update of the RWL SEE website, periodical update on women, peace and security via emails to share information among RWL SEE 
   - Support RWL Chair, Steering Committee and Advisory Board in fundraising efforts
   - Facilitate the communication sharing and information between RWL SEE members as they relate to women in South East Europe.


Requirements


   - Master Degree in Gender/women’s studies, social science, development, or relevant field.
   - Min 2 years of work experience in gender, human rights and development, especially in the post-conflict context and in the Western Balkans;
   - Proven expertise and experience in advocacy work on women’s human rights and peace and security is an asset;
   - Excellent computer skills, computer literacy: Microsoft Windows, proficient use of processing tools such as Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
   - Proven ability to deal with a dynamic group comprised of high-level officials and women advocates
   - Work experience with the UN System, especially with UN Women (previously UNIFEM), is an asset.
   - Excellent English language skills (written and spoken) is required and knowledge of a local language (Albanian/Serbian) is an asset;
