Background
Albania's progress on its European integration path is measured on the basis of criteria established by "Copenhagen” political criteria. The reform and development of the Justice system is one of the key priorities in the Stabilisation and Association Agreement. The rule of law is a fundamental pre-condition for membership; setting the mechanisms that permit the rule of law to be implemented properly is a fundamental task for all political forces. This project follows up on the previous assistance provided under the CARDS and IPA programmes of assistance to the Judiciary system. However, due to the complexity and sensitivity of justice related issues and the deficiencies of the Albanian justice system, further support is needed to bring the Albanian system fully in line with European standards.
Size of grants
Any grant requested under this Call for Proposals must be equal or less than the available budget, i.e. € 4,000,000.00.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must:
- be a competent Government Department, Public body, or relevant mandated body of a Government Department or public body authority of
a European Union Member State in the fields related to this action
- be established in a Member State of the European Union
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an
intermediary
