Background
UN Women office in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was established in 2008 to provide support to governmental and non-governmental partners to implement existing international and national commitments to women’s rights and gender equality. Through its projects and programs, the office provides technical assistance to duty bearers as well as rights holders nourishes networking and exchange of good practices and advocates for women’s rights and gender equality in all areas of life. UN Women in Bosnia and Herzegovina supports partners to achieve concrete results in promoting gender equality, dismantling structural inequalities and changing gender roles.
Responsibilities
- Support the process of identifying entry points and developing a coherent project proposal for UN Women work on prevention of
gender-based violence in the country
- Carry out baseline mapping of policies, interventions, actions and budgets to address gender based violence in BiH, as required
- Inform and contribute to the consultations with key stakeholders, including other UN agencies, civil society organizations, national and
local authorities on the progress of activities implemented in BiH in the area of gender equality and prevention of gender based violence
- Facilitate knowledge and information sharing on the availability, accessibility and quality of support services in response to GBV in BiH
Requirements
- Masters Degree in gender studies, international development, education or other field related to gender equality
- At least three years of working experience on women human rights issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina
- At least eight years of experience working with international organisations, government agencies or NGOs
- Experience working with UN agencies is an asset
- Fluency in spoken and written English;
- Good understanding of B/H/S language.
