Responsibilities
- Identifies, elaborates and implements interventions designed to strengthen and support the fair and equitable access to democratic
institutions and public services at all levels for all persons
- Designs projects and activities to strengthen national institutions and local communities in developing sustainable policies through reform
and implementation of the legal and institutional framework for fulfilling the human rights and non-discrimination standards in Serbia;
this includes capacity-building activities for representatives of the government, civil society and ethnic communities
- Liaises with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, international partners and OSCE institutions to foster tolerance and
respect for human rights and non-discrimination in line with Serbia's legislation and obligations under international human rights law
- Co-operates with the relevant agencies in the development and implementation of confidence building and reconciliation activities
- Oversees the work on gender-related issues, particularly in the design and implementation of activities to empower women for political
participation
- Confers regularly with donors and other international and domestic organisations to ensure effective communication and co-operation
among the wide range of actors engaged in minority rights issues
- Co-ordinates the review of legislation done by experts to encourage compliance with international standards;
Requirements
- University education in political sciences, social sciences, international relations, public policy, law or equivalent professional experience
- Work experience in either public administration, relevant international organizations, civic associations (including NGOs), political
parties/affairs, or economic and political development
- Demonstrable organizational, communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Excellent knowledge of the international standards for the protection of human and minority rights and non-discrimination
- Solid understanding of the democratic development in post-conflict and multi-ethnic environments, with special focus on human and
minority rights and non-discrimination
- Solid understanding of the legal system, political situation and the civil society landscape in Serbia
- Demonstrated ability to produce conceptual and analytical reports in relevant fields
- Experience in mediation, conflict prevention and possession of advocacy skills
- Professional fluency in the English language, both oral and written
