Description


The purpose of the post is to manage UNDP’s portfolio in the focus area of Climate Change Mitigation, Climate Resilient Development and Sustainable Transport and to ensure the delivery of expected results from relevant projects and activities. The overall objective of the portfolio and its projects is to assist the Government to fulfill its reporting obligations to the UNFCCC as well as to develop activities that enhance climate resilience and reduce Green-House-Gases (GHG) emissions.


Responsibilities

   - Assume key role of Project Management by supervising and coordinating projects in the portfolio to ensure its results are in accordance
     with the relevant Project Documents and the rules and procedures established in the UNDP Programming Manual;
   - Provide leadership and manage the execution of the portfolio by applying a client-oriented approach, consistent with donor requirements
     and UNDP rules and procedures;
   - Provide policy advice on key issues in the area of Climate Change, Adaptation and Mitigation, Climate Resilient Development, Sustainable
     Transport and Metropolitan Emission-reduction;
   - Identify, collect and analyze policy-related, relevant information and data;
   - Maintain continuous dialogue and coordination with donor representatives regarding the implementation of on-going and planned
     projects and activities,
   - Provide regular, informal information about UN(DP) pipeline developments to relevant government and donor representatives as well as
     other key stakeholders;


Requirements

   - Master degree or equivalent in environmental management, urban planning or other relevant discipline, preferably with a focus on
     climate change, environment or energy management / policy.
   - At least 5 years of professional experience in project management in the public sector and/or in the United Nations;
   - Strong organization development/management experience and proven ability to manage people;
   - Demonstrated leadership ability;
   - Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing;
   - Proven ability to communicate with high level government officials;
   - Previous experience in dealing with international and bilateral organizations;
   - Knowledge of UNDP rules and procedures and/or the Prince2 methodology for project management is an asset;
