Background
Through its programmes and projects, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is providing technical assistance to national partners (governmental and non-governmental) in the implementation of existing international and national commitments to women’s rights and gender equality, facilitates networking and exchange of good practices and advocates for women’s rights and gender equality in all areas of life. Ending Violence against Women and Girls is among the five key priority areas within the mandate of UN Women. UN Women works on several fronts towards ending violence against women and girls, including tackling its main root: gender inequality. Initiatives range from working to establish legal frameworks and specific national actions, to supporting social mobilization at the grassroots levels for prevention of VAWG.
Responsibilities
- Conduct capacity development needs assessment of key country CSOs providers of support services to women victims of DV/VAW
- Collaboratively develop (as informed by a capacity development pre-assessment), a detailed agenda, training modules and training
materials that focus on wide range of gender aspects relevant to the provision of direct support services, including: basic notions on
gender and gender equality, gender based violence and discrimination, roles and relationships of women and men, gender and sex, culture
and human rights, the national, regional and international normative framework, data collection and data analysis
- Conduct pre and post course evaluations and final reporting including lessons learnt, challenges encountered and recommendations as to
next / future steps in strengthening CSOs capacity to deliver quality and equitable services
Requirements
- University degree in Political Science, International Security, Gender Studies, Public Administration, Management, Public Policy, or related
fields
- Experience in the development and delivery of training programmes, toolkits, evaluation and monitoring matrices, and mentoring on
gender mainstreaming
- Familiarity with the civil society sector and CSOs’ work in provision of support services in response to DV
- Excellent oral and written communication in both Macedonian and English is required
