Background

UNDP and the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning (MoEPP) are implementing projects related to climate change “Third National Communication on climate change” and “First Biennial Update Report“. Their main goal is to to assist the country in mainstreaming and integration of climate change consideration into national and sectorial development policies by providing continuity to the institutional and technical capacity strengthening process, partly initiated and sustained by the National Communications.

Responsibilities

  - Review the projects activities and results from a gender perspective
  - Review of the UNDP’s and UNFCCC’s strategic documents for mainstreaming gender into climate change. Review of the similar
    documents developed by other international organisations will be highly recommended
  - Review of the sector specific outputs and indicators, provide innovative approaches for mainstreaming gender in different sectors and
    identify the measurable indicators that should be used in order to monitor the progress of gender equity and gender equality in that sector
    from the perspective of climate change

Requirements

  - Minimum B.Sc. (or equivalent) in relevant area (gender studies, social sciences). Higher degree will be considered an asset
  - Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in mainstreaming gender in development projects and policies
  - Record of participation in at least 3 similar assignments of similar size and degree of complexity (consultancy services in the area gender
    mainstreaming in projects, programmes and policies); At least one assignment in the area gender and climate change is required
  - Knowledge of analysis methods and tools for mainstreaming gender in climate change, environment, ecosystem management, sustainable
    development, rural development and related areas is considered a strong asset
  - English language proficiency
