Background

UNDP and the Crisis Management Centre (CMC) implement the project “Disaster and Climate Risk Reduction” with objective to reduce disaster and climate risks in the country and thus contribute to the attainment of country development goals. The project seeks to strengthen disaster and climate risk assessment capacities and identify priorities at the national level to inform country disaster risk and climate risk management strategies and program development. This is done among the other, through preparation of a comprehensive Disaster and Risk Assessment, creation of a web-based software applications and disaster risk maps. In addition, targeted capacity building and public awareness/advocacy/education activities will be carried out countrywide. In parallel, actions are taken at the local level to reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen capacities to manage disaster and climate risks at local levels.

Responsibilities

  - Familiarize with the project document, risk and hazard assessment framework, especially the Regulation on the Methodology for
    Preparation of the Assessment from All Risks and Hazards (Official Gazette of RM, No. 13/2011), the Manual for implementation of the
    Risk and Hazard Assessment, as well as other relevant documents
  - Familiarize with the various web applications and databases for exposure and vulnerability of critical infrastructure and population, as
    well as registry of resources and historical events
  - Review the General Part of the Risk and Hazard Assessment as per the Regulation on the Methodology for preparation of the Assessment
    from all risks and hazards (Official Gazette of RM, No. 13/2011) prepared by the regional centers for crisis management.
  - Review of Hazard Profile of the selected regions following the requirements of the Regulation on the Methodology for preparation of the
    Assessment from all risks and hazards (Official Gazette of RM, No. 13/2011).

Requirements

  - University degree in the thematic areas relevant to the assignment (security studies, social sciences, natural sciences). Advanced university
    is an asset
  - At least 5 years professional experience in areas relevant for the assignment (crisis management, strategic planning, security affairs)
  - Previous experience in preparation of risks or security assessments, and/or comprehensive reports, and/or strategic plans, etc.
  - Previous experience in projects from crisis management/disaster risk reduction/ security affairs areas Profound knowledge of the
    Macedonian crisis/disaster risk management system
  - Full working knowledge of English
