Background
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has a mandate to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It strives to ensure that everyone can exercise the right to seek asylum and find safe refuge in another State, with the option to return home voluntarily, integrate locally or to resettle in a third country. It also has a mandate to help stateless people. Since the start of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia, UNHCR has been helping the Montenegrin Government in the reception of asylum seekers and the identification of durable solutions for persons displaced in Montenegro. UNHCR supports the Government in fulfilling Montenegro’s obligations deriving from its membership in the United Nations, Council of Europe and OSCE, chiefly to pursue solutions for the tens of thousands of people who are yet to resolve their displacement or statelessness problems .
Qualifications requirements
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, English language and literature or related field;
- Demonstrated interest and / or experience in refugee issues or human rights related work;
- Computer literacy, excellent ability to work with Microsoft Office;
- Fluency in English and Montenegrin with ability to provide interpretation and draft documents in both languages;
- Detail-oriented with a strong capacity to organize and process statistical data and information;
- Applicants must have minimum 25 years of age.
