Description


The Open Society Foundations work to build vibrant and tolerant societies whose governments are accountable and open to criticism, whose laws and policies are open to debate and correction, and whose political institutions are open to the participation of all people. They seek to strengthen justice and the rule of law; broaden respect for human rights, including the rights of minorities; encourage pluralism and a robust diversity of opinion; deepen democratic practice and participation; expand economic equity; support effective governance; and invest in individuals, public and private organizations, and social movements that advance these goals. The Open Society Institute–Budapest acts as the administrative and operational headquarters for a number of Open Society initiatives. The Roma Initiatives Office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Advocacy Manager.


Responsibilities

   - Provide the written products listed above;
   - Write assessments of the policy relevance and impact of grants made by RIO;
   - Attend and convening meetings of experts, grantees, and key policy actors;
   - Provide strategic policy and advocacy advice to the program director.


Requirements

   - Excellent research skills, including analysis of patterns and action-oriented synthesis;
   - Excellent writing skills;
   - Proven ability to work under pressure and against short deadlines;
   - Great attentiveness to detail and methodological rigor;
   - Excellent listening and communication skills with sensitivity to cultural differences in communication;
   - Pleasant, diplomatic manner and disposition in interacting with colleagues and the general public;
   - Willingness to travel internationally.


Remuneration

Commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package.
