EBRD/ JUDICIAL TRAINING ON LAW & MARKETS IN SERBIA

Skip Navigation LinksHome - Item
Deadline: 29-05-2014 Location: Serbia Back

Description

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the EBRD, the Bank) intends to implement a judicial training project in Serbia focusing on law and markets (the Project). Serbia entrusts business disputes to specialised commercial courts, but judges lack understanding of how the law applies in practice to markets and commerce. This affects the quality of judicial decisions and judges' ability to ask probing questions of witnesses. Judges would greatly benefit from judicial training directed at law and markets, focusing on a practical understanding of the context of commercial litigation in areas falling within the jurisdiction of the Commercial Courts. The Judicial Academy of Serbia has requested the Bank's assistance to develop and deliver such training for judges of the Commercial Court, the Commercial Court of Appeal, and also for candidate judges.
