Responsibilities
- Compiles, updates, internalizes, briefs and follows-up on developments in the area of inter-ethnic relations and minority rights and
provides relevant analysis and policy advice with regard to OFA focal areas, with special attention to education and languages;
- Advises and supports governmental institutions and agencies, as well as stakeholders on a local level, on the improvement of interethnic
relations, with special attention to the educational system and languages;
- Provides support to, and deputizes for, the Senior Co-ordinator Interethnic Relations (SC) in the general area of improving inter-ethnic
relations, mandate-mainstreaming, minority rights and societal integration, especially in relation to the implementation of the Ohrid
Framework Agreement (OFA);
- Serves as the Unit's reporting officer and consolidates further development of the Mission's strategy in the area of inter-ethnic relations,
minority rights and the facilitation of OFA implementation;
- Prepares background material, reports and analyses for internal and external use as related to inter-ethnic relations, minority rights and
OFA implementation and focal areas in general, and education and languages in particular;
- In co-ordination with the SC, conducts regular field visits to stakeholders in the OFA implementation process;
Requirements
- Minimum of two years work/academic experience in the field of inter-ethnic relations, integrated education, minorities, reconciliation
and/or community and linguistic rights
- Experience in policy development, designing action plans, scientific analyses and/or strategies
- Experience in co-ordinating with donors, Civil Society Organizations, political actors and implementing agencies
- Experience in mission work or field work/research and project implementation
- Excellent communication, analytical and drafting skills in English
- Ability to operate Windows applications including word processing and email
