Description

Oxfam is searching for a candidate for a position of Policy Advisor Land Rights. The position is for the period of one year, in the office in The Hague. The main objective is to contribute to Oxfam’s advocacy on land rights, aiming to maximise Oxfam’s influence on local-to-global public policies on the governance of land and their implementation, with the aim to contribute to increasing poor people’s access to land.

Main tasks:

   - Implementing advocacy strategies to advocate for agreed policy propositions towards global policy-makers and decision-makers, by
     means of letters, conversations, debates and the media;
   - Participating in relevant Oxfam teams, including the GROW Land Advocacy team, and with other relevant teams (such as those working
     on the Post 2015 framework and the UN World Committee on Food Security);
   - Initiating, co-ordinating and taking part in meetings and negotiations with allies to bring about jointly the desired policy changes;
   - Supporting policy advisors of the field offices on relevant advocacy initiatives and works with them to achieve advocacy results at the
     local and international levels (linking local to global).


Eligibility

   - A university level education in a relevant discipline and over 3 years of work experience in the field of development cooperation preferably
     with an international agency;
   - Demonstrated analytical and strategic skills;
   - Strong influencing and convincing skills and a track record of achieving advocacy results;
   - Strong knowledge of poverty and development and in particular economic justice, food security and land rights;
   - Good knowledge of the NGO and UN system (especially Rome-based agencies and UN General Assembly is an asset);
   - Knowledge of the Oxfam confederation will be considered an asset;
   - Accustomed to working in complex political settings;
   - Excellent communication skills;
   - Strong networking skills;
   - Willingness to travel abroad;
   - Fluent English skills;
   - Applicants must be Nationals of a European Union member State or have a valid work permit for the European Union.


Remuneration

The gross month salary is in the range of € 2942,- to € 4528,- on the basis of 36 hours.
