Background
The GEF funded “Support to Sustainable Transport in the City of Belgrade” project is implemented by UNDP Serbia in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and the City of Belgrade, through its Land Development Agency and Secretariat for Transport, and is in its final year of implementation.
The overall objective of the project is to reduce the metropolitan emissions in the City of Belgrade by improving the public transport scheme, reinforce the participation of cyclists in the traffic and provide the policy framework for sustainable urban transport development of Belgrade.
The project activities are grouped around four main outcomes: Integrated land use and urban transport planning at the metropolitan level; Promotion of the cycling transport mode and increase safety of cyclists; Safe and sound to school program (improving the safety of children in traffic while minimizing the impact of such traffic on environment) and Capacity building (through train-the-trainers programme on eco-driving).
Responsibilities
- Calculate the GHG emissions of the road transport sector emission in the City of Belgrade from 2006 to 2010. The emission calculation for
this period should be developed using the emission calculation model recommended by GEF for calculation of emissions from road
transport sector (e.g. TEEMP)
- Develop a dynamic baseline forecasts for the emissions from the road transport sector in a “business-as-usual” scenario for the timeframe
2006 – 2020 using the GEF Methodology for CO2 accounting
- Develop an integrated mitigation scenario using the GEF Methodology for CO2 accounting, estimating the direct CO2 emission reductions
achieved by implementation of the relevant project activities for the timeframe 2011-2014
- Identify and estimate the range of indirect GHG emission reduction impacts achieved through market facilitation and development.
Requirements
- An advanced degree the field of transport, environment, climate change and/or climate research and modelling or other related field
- A minimum of 3 years of working experience in the area relevant to transport, environment and climate change;
- Knowledge of GEF methodology for CO2 accounting from transport sector and COPERT methodology is considered as asset;
- Familiarity with computers and word processing;
- Fluency in English is mandatory and knowledge of Serbian is considered as an asset
