Responsibilities
- Monitors, analyzes and reports on the state of the criminal justice system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in relation to the
Department´s justice sector monitoring activities, legal and structural reforms as they relate to war crimes and hate crimes;
- Provides advice and assistance to members of the judiciary throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina in the areas of war crimes and hate
crimes processing;
- Provides advice to the Head of Rule of Law Section, Management of the Department and the field staff on criminal law, especially in
relation to justice sector reform;
- Ensures the accurate gathering and flow of information, particularly in the spotting of key issues arising within trials, as reported by field
monitors;
- Contributes to drafting of other documents and submissions on behalf of the HDD;
- Follows legislative and policy developments at the national, entity, cantonal and local level that impact on the rights of individuals;
Requirements
- Sound knowledge of international criminal law, the European Convention on Human Rights, and the application of these in domestic legal
systems
- Experience in practicing international or domestic criminal law
- Experience in programme planning and management
- Excellent analytical and reporting skills
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Knowledge of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the conflict and its consequences
