Description
The project Traces of History by the University of Oslo seeks to explore Medieval Germanic and Romance languages to identify possible features that may explain why the Germanic languages retained the word order while the Romance languages lost it. This project is within diachronic linguistics with special consideration of Verb Second in the Romance and Germanic languages. The Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages invites applications for a doctoral research fellowship within the project Traces of History. The appointment is for a duration of three years. The successful candidate is expected to join the existing research milieu or network and contribute to its development.
Eligibility
The candidates should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in Linguistics, European Languages or in a discipline related to Traces of History’s research profile is a must. The successful candidate should also have good working skills in English.
Fellowship
The salary will range from NOK 421,100 to NOK 465,300 (approximately EUR 50,000-55,200), depending on qualifications.
