Background
The UNDP project Support for Low Emission Development in South East Europe (SLED) provides support to national and local level to enhance the capacities for climate change mitigation and adaption enhanced.
Climate change vulnerability is defined as per IPCC “the extent to which climate change may damage or harm a system; it is a function of both sensitivity to climate and the ability to adapt to new conditions”. Vulnerability varies in time and in place, but it is widely agreed that the poorest people are the most vulnerable to changes since they have the least means to cope with climatic stress and are the most reliant on natural resources for their livelihoods.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for coordinating the engagement plan in collaboration with the project manager and the international consultant, to organize
and conduct stakeholder meetings, to present the assessment goal, identify feedback mechanisms.
- Responsible for the development and management of assessment work plan.
- Responsible for identifying and reporting obstacles.
- Contributes for conducting a desk literature review.
- Facilitates the development of questionnaires/assessment tools and feedback from the stakeholders for primary data collection.
- Facilitates the collection and analysis of primary data and ensuring quality data.
- Facilitates data sourcing, sharing, verification and quality assurance of the data.
- Facilitates and organizes meetings to share progress and review results.
- Contributes for preparing the draft report and assemble comments and feedbacks.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in environment, public health, development studies or a relevant field
- 3-5 years of experience in undertaking assessment studies of the vulnerability and adaptation of public health of climate change.
- 3-5 years of experience in undertaking capacity needs assessments and in developing tailored made-training programmes and modules
- Knowledge and/or familiarity with Kosovo’s public health system is mandatory,
- Knowledge and/or familiar with the geography and climate of the region is mandatory,
- Must be able to work effectively in a politically sensitive environment and exercise discretion, impartiality and neutrality.
- Proven ability to plan and ensure targets are met.
- Good analytical and writing skills
- Excellent knowledge of the English language and Albanian language
