UNDP BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA/ LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

Background

The project aims to contribute to socially inclusive and integrated development of the Birac region through effective mobilisation of development partnerships and resources, setting of the joint regional development agenda and empowering of community stakeholders to undertake development actions and translate regional priorities into visibly inclusive development results. The project builds on previous and on-going support to the Birac region municipalities and encourages inter-municipal and regional cooperation to support bottom-up partnership approach to development and foster territorial cohesion, applying the EU LEADER-like principles in community-led local development at the sub-regional level.   


Responsibilities

In the process of creating a comprehensive socio-economic analysis of the Birac region, and as preparation for the regional strategic planning process, the existing strategic documents, joint initiatives and cooperation experiences in partner municipalities will be reviewed, in order to create a baseline in terms of regional socio-economic priorities and inter-municipal cooperation opportunities to be embedded within the Birac Region Development Strategy. Birac region economy will be analysed to identify possible constraints and opportunities for growth. The analysis will focus on key sectors considered to be main drivers of regional economy, while also looking at their connections and inter-dependence. The Consultant will work in close consultations with the UNDP/BIRAC project team as well as the Municipal Development Teams in the partner municipalities.


Requirements

   - A university degree in economics or other relevant experience.
   - At least seven (7) years of relevant experience in the field of local and regional economic development, competitiveness, private sector
     development, and/or labour market development in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
   - Experience working as a consultant in the field of local and regional economic development.
   - Experience in programming of activities.
   - Fluency in English and official BiH languages.
