The Schwarzkopf Foundation - Young Europeans offers travel scholarships designed to give young people the opportunity to travel in other European countries. The intention behind this scholarships is to allow journeys commited to studying a specific cultural or political aspect of European integration on the ground, and to get to know European neighbours.

There are two kinds of scholarships:
   - The classical travel scholarship awards for young people between 18 and 26 years of age within an amount of: EUR 550.
   - The travel scholarship in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, where young people between 17 and 25 years of age are awarded an
     InterRail Globalpass worth € 422.

The trip needs to have a specifically defined research topic regarding a current cultural or political development in the context of European integration and it needs to be explained and elaborated in the application. The applicant should also state what methods are envisaged to address the topic (e.g. interviews, etc). A later substantial change of the topic would need to be approved by the Foundation.

Budget

 

The travel grant amounts to € 550, where 400 € will be paid at the beginning of the journey and 150 € after presenting a report.

Eligibility

 

Citizens of Germany between the ages of 18 and 26 may apply for a trip in a European country, including young Europeans between the ages of 18 and 26 from other countries than Germany may apply for a travel grant for Germany.
