DICKEY INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS FOR UNDERGRADUATES 2015

Description                           

The Dickey Center for International Understanding provides funding opportunities for students with main goal to broaden their international perspectives and their understanding of different cultures by carrying out leave-term projects abroad as a Dickey International Intern.
The ideal Dickey International Internship enriches some aspect of students' on-campus academic work. An international internship should also develop students' ability to communicate comfortably with persons from other cultures and to understand the processes for addressing international issues that confront nations.

Criteria

  - International students are encouraged to explore an internship in a culture and/or region that is not their own.
  - Applicants must be undergraduates returning to campus for at least one term after completing the internship. Dickey Centere will not
    fund intenrationals tudent to return to their own country because the goal of the Dickey. Internship is to encourage cross-cultural
    experience.
  - Returning interns agree to participate as requested in workshops or informational sessions relating to internships in general
  - Applicants are required to submit a 3-5 page report after completion of their project.
  - Applicants should describe not only the kind of work you did, but also tell us something about the organizations that hosted them, the
    people with whom they worked, and how the experience was meaningful to them.
  - Students should ideally be familiar with the language of the country in which they wish to intern.

Scholarship

These internships are unpaid. But students may Budget as much money as they will need, $4,000 (or $15,000) is just the maximum they can receive.

Application

Students have to complete the online application first and then complete and submit the following by post or by e-mail:
   - Written proposal;
   - Letters of recommendation;
   - Supervisor Statement;
   - Transcript.


Deadline:  October 15, 2014 (for Winter 2015), January 28, 2015 (for Spring 2015) and April 22, 2015 (for Summer 2015).
