Deadline: 13-10-2014
Location: Turkey

Description Max. Grant Amount is: EUR 80.000
So far, all projects done on prevention of corruption have targeted mostly the public sector, while omitting the role of civil society in raising awareness on ethics and monitoring corrupt behavior. In democratic countries, CSOs are characterized for primarily working for public interest and reflecting their society’s views and opinions. They contribute to democratization by either acting as watchdogs of public institutions or sustaining some activities of which public sector lacks behind. In Turkey, however, CSOs working specifically on issues of ethics and corruption are regrettably few in number and have inadequate financial sources to carry out their goals.
The Grant Scheme component of this Project will enable the CSOs including the ones working on the fields of ethics and/or corruption to improve their capacities, monitoring and advocacy skills, and experiences in the field, while eventually generating awareness among citizens complaining about corruption or corrupt practices.
