Background

Starting from 2010, UN Women has been implementing the regional project “Promoting Gender Responsive Polices in South-East Europe and the Republic of Moldova” covering Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova. The project is financially supported by the Austrian Development Agency and the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development. Its overall goal is to contribute to the implementation of commitments towards achieving gender equality by strengthening the capacities of national and local stakeholders to mainstream gender in policy planning and budgeting process.

Responsibilities

  - Desk-reviewing the findings of relevant analyses conducted in the framework of the project and other materials on gender responsive
    budgeting from the region and globally to inform their work on the assignment
  - Developing a training and mentoring programme on gender responsive budgeting for public officials working in the local self-governments
    program and budget/finance units in the ten pilot municipalities

Requirements

  - Advanced degree in social sciences, law, public policy/administration, development studies, gender studies or similar. Master’s degree or
    PhD would be considered an asset.
  - A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in the area of gender equality with focus on gender responsive budgeting
    and/or public policy and budget monitoring with gender lenses
  - Previous experience in designing and delivering training and/or mentoring programmes on gender equality and gender mainstreaming in
    policy making and budgeting
  - Strong writing, communication and presentation skills in Macedonian and English
