Description
New Europe College-Institute for Advanced Study (NEC), based in Bucharest, Romania, announces the Research Fellowship Program “Europe next to Europe” for young scholars in the humanities and social sciences. The program, sponsored by the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (Sweden), addresses candidates coming from European countries that are not yet members of the European Union, or which have a less consolidated position within it, targeting in particular the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia), Turkey, Cyprus.
The duration of the “Europe next to Europe” Fellowship may be one academic year (10 months, starting October, 2015), or one term (5 months, starting October, 2015, or March, 2016). The Fellows are expected to take part in the weekly seminar at the institute together with the other scholars present at NEC, and in other scientific events organized by NEC. They will have the opportunity to profit from NEC’s widespread international network and its high-quality guest lecturers program.
Eligibility
Applicants must be doctoral students in an advanced stage of their research, or hold a PhD title. Preference is given to candidates below the age of 40. Fellows should have a good command of English.
Fellowship
The Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of 700 € plus accommodation and travel expenses. In addition to their residence period in Bucharest, they are offered a one-month research trip abroad to an institution of their choice.
