Description


EMMIR is the European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations. It is the first African-European Erasmus Mundus Master Course in Migration Studies.

EMMIR is jointly run by three African and four European universities, facilitated by a wider network of partners. EMMIR is a unique study programme focusing on migration through an intercultural approach. It provides profound theoretical skills in migration studies combined with field work in Europe and Africa. EMMIR students become acquainted with different cultures and academic traditions and gain knowledge about migration issues in internships.

The full cohort will study the first two semesters in Oldenburg, Germany and Stavanger, Norway. In the second year every student will follow his/her own study plan in order to succeed in EMMIR. The programme will start Tuesday, 1 September 2015.


Eligibility

   - A degree in a field related to migration studies with a final grade of at least C+ (or equivalent),
   - knowledge of or professional experience in migration studies,
   - proficiency in two languages including English.


Scholarship

The scholarships’ terms depend on the student’s country of origin/residence:

1. Erasmus+ Programme countries (EU member states + Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey):

   - Contribution to the participation costs: 2.250 € per semester
   - Contribution to the travel: 1.000 € per year
   - Contribution to subsistence costs: 1.000 € per month

2. Erasmus+ Partner countries (other countries not included in Programme countries):

   - Contribution to the participation costs: 4.500 € per semester
   - Contribution to the travel and installation: 3.000-4.000 € per year
   - Contribution to subsistence costs: 1.000 € per month
