Background

The UNDP’s Social Inclusion/Democratic Governance Sector aims to both decisively promote social inclusion and empowerment of the most vulnerable and to significantly enhance access to social and economic benefits to marginalised people and communities through specifically tailored sector initiatives and other UNDP sectors’ programmes fully utilizing CO knowledge platform.
The Strengthening the Role of Local Communities (Mjesne Zajednice/MZs) project is a joint initiative of the Government of Switzerland and the Government of Sweden, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). It is geared towards strengthening local communities (MZ), will specifically work in the areas which alone and more preferably combined will help empowerment of women and inclusion of the marginalized groups into economic, social and political mainstream. The overall project objective is contribute to better quality of life of BiH citizens through increased democratic participation and accountability, enhanced local services and infrastructure and social inclusion.
 
Responsibilities

  - Overall project management
  - Policy advice and technical guidance
  - Project monitoring, reporting and quality assurance based on the principle of result-based management
  - Knowledge management
  - Partnership and advocacy
 
Requirements

  - Master’s degree in public administration, development studies, economics, political sciences, social sciences, or other related areas. BA
    degree with additional two years of experience could be accepted in lieu of MA
  - Minimum five years of project management experience
  - Minimum five years of proven professional experience in the field local governance, local development and community development in BiH;
    previous practical work at the MZ level is a distinct asset
  - Proven knowledge and expertise in design and support to policy-making processes, with focus on local governance
  - Fluency in English and languages of peoples of BiH
