OSCE MISSION TO BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA/ INFORMATION OFFICER (VACANCY NUMBER: VNBAHS00698)

Responsibilities

   - Drafts and conducts substantive editing on external reports and publications and other public information materials;
   - Develops and/or maintains informational brochures on Human Dimension Department programmatic themes as a means to better
     promote the work of the Department, increase the overall visibility of the Mission and inform internal and external audiences on the
     Mission's core objectives and focus areas;
   - Drafts articles on Mission activities in the form of feature stories, newsletters or magazine articles;
   - Assists with collecting, synthesizing and harmonizing inputs from programmatic focal points to produce regular internal departmental
     reports;
   - Co-ordinates production, design and printing of departmental public reports, external publications and other print and multimedia
     information materials in close collaboration with the Supervisor, relevant Human Dimension Department focal points and the Mission's
     Press Unit;
   - Develops and maintains reference materials and presentations aimed at better informing departmental staff regarding reporting and
     public information procedures and ensuring improved promotion of the department's programmatic activities. Participates in Head Office
     and Field Office training exercises as requested;


Requirements

   - Previous experience working with public information, reporting and journalism
   - Knowledge of the mandate and work of the OSCE as pertaining to at least one of the four broad fields of democratic governance, rule of
     law, education and human rights
   - Professional fluency in the English language, both oral and written, good communication skills, including the ability to prepare news-
     related documents and public presentations in simple, clear language for a broad non-diplomatic audience
   - Interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with client groups
   - Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, gender
     and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity
   - Ability to operate Windows applications, including word processing and e-mail
